One in 3 high school students, including half of all girls, reported persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness in 2019 - up 40% since 2009. This Surgeon General's Advisory outlines a series of recommendations to improve youth mental health and empower youth to recognize, manage, and learn from difficult emotions. The report calls for systemic change to better support children and adolescents in schools, health systems, and communities.
